The French Upper-Intermediate course is designed for students who wish to improve from a French speaker who is proficient in everyday conversations, to a higher level of language fluency that will permit taking part in negotiations, debates, discussions and delivering of short presentations.
Introduction:
- Brief presentations about yourself.
- Demonstrate continued vocabulary enrichment, allowing for more detailed descriptions and explanations of people, things, places, and activities.
Numerals:
- Numbers (cardinal and ordinal) and dates
Grammar:
- Conjugating regular/irregular verbs (i.e. conditional, pluperfect, imperative and subjunctive).
- Pronominal verbs and modal verbs – Style and register: formal/ informal.
Reading:
- Improving comprehension through reading skills.
Speaking:
- Focus on communicative competence (recognize and respond appropriately and with increasing detail to the most common spoken situations).
- It covers grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation as well as skills in speaking.
Time and space concepts:
- Representations of time, describing actions in the past and in the future.
Structures:
- Different types of sentences: (i.e. affirmative, negative, interrogative and exclamatory).
- Producing various styles of written French.
Translation:
- Translation of a simple text into French.
