Exam Preparation for O-Levels Students
Option 1 – O-Level – English Language
This course will offer a revision of the core topics and follow a paper-based approach to prepare the students for their GCE O/Ls English examination. They will be able to practice past papers & exam model questions on key areas such as grammar and vocabulary, reading comprehension skills and Mechanics of writing.
The students will be following the sections mentioned below so as to have a complete knowledge of the subject & be ready to tackle the examination upon completion of this short course.
Option 2 – O-Level – English Literature
Students will be introduced to a critical analysis of literary texts from different genres, as prescribed for GCE O/L English Literature.
They will be guided using an exam oriented approach, on a summarised version of the syllabus. The Tutor will conduct discussions on thematic and literary concerns on important topics under each genre. The students will be trained to answer both context questions and essay type questions presented through both Past Papers and Model Papers.
- Grammar and Vocabulary exam style questions. (Fill in the blanks, re-write sentences, etc…)
- Comprehension Skills (Skimming and Scanning of reading passages, Extracting information from advertisements, etc…)
- Writing (Describing basic Graphs, Writing paragraphs and Completing dialogues, Essay writing, etc…)
- During the classroom training sessions, the Tutor may touch on additional specific grammar/vocabulary subjects based on the requirements of the student(s) (i.e. Passive voice, Reported speech, etc…)
- Students will be assigned homework for self practice and a personal feedback will be issued to each student based on their performance.
- Literature is the imagination which pours out of the minds of the writers and poets. It is a discipline closely linked to history, psychology, economic and societal conditions of various periods of the world’s past.
